CATCHING UP

I have been abroad for four days and lost the thread. France is a glorious place to eat and drink, particularly the Charente; however, back to other matters and events for the 9th March.

A curious day for one and all, but apart from food and various war memories of happenings in 1945, a small ray of hope during the 1950's American communist scare.
What can be healthier? (Tee hee)

On the 9th March 1954 a CBS program entitled 'See It Now' Edward R Murrow critically reviewed the despicable work of the then Junior Senator from Wisconsin, Joseph R. McCarthy and his so called anti-communist campaign. It was the beginning of the end for the Senator whose name became an ism.

1- The practice of making accusations of disloyalty, especially of pro-Communist activity, in many instances unsupported by proof or based on slight, doubtful, or irrelevant evidence.
2- The practice of making unfair allegations or using unfair investigative techniques, especially in order to restrict dissent or political criticism.
