Trepidation:
1- A state of fear or anxiety
2- A condition of quaking or palpitation, especially one caused by anxiety.
This is what I am feeling at the present time whilst contemplating tomorrow’s activities across the United States and the eventual results which I will wake up to on Wednesday morning, which will be around 7 AM London time or 2 AM on the east coast of the United States. I don’t suppose significant results will be available from the west coast until about 10 AM London time, assuming the counts will start as soon as the polls close on the West Coast. Hawaii will of course be even later.
I confess, there is certainly a state of uneasiness despite the polls and the various comment from pundits, analysts, commentators and journalists I have seen and heard on YouTube and other bits of the media. Frankly, I am baffled by this feeling, just as I am baffled by the fact that there should be any doubt about which party any thinking American citizen should vote for.
It’s not so much voting for a political party, as voting for any candidate for office who does not blindly support convicted felon Donald Trump. He is not a political party. He is a chronically psychotic narcissist who claims to be the leader of the Republican Party. The republican party, that I recall, does not at present seem to have a specific leader, but if it did, it would certainly not be convicted felon Donald Trump. He is his own party, and those who follow him are acolytes. They are so attached they have no character of their own. They have usurped the name and cause of the Republican Party that used to be part of the American political landscape. Perhaps that Grand Old Party could re-emerge once the voting is concluded to what one might call, a satisfactory result.
In any event, there will be a dedicated program on the BBC covering the US Midterm Elections 2026 from 11:30 PM London time until 6:00 AM on Wednesday the 4th November. Much prognosticating will take place from a wide variety of ‘America watchers’ and experts covering a variety of political persuasions, and maybe even the odd American with an actual vote in the election. I have no doubt there will be similar coverage in other nation states around the world.
There is also much speculation as to how the convicted felon will deal with losing the majority of his minions in the House of Representatives, and possibly in the Senate as well. He will certainly call it a swindle and a scam. The media outlets which support him will also, no doubt, rally to his cause and claim the results are a fraud and should be discounted. The convicted felon’s collective will do everything it can to hold up and challenge any certification or verification of the results should it not go its way. On that you can rely. Be that as it may,
A vote is still a vote
A Try is just a try
The fundamental things apply
As time goes by
And when the people vote
They still say, “That’s my Choice”
On that you can rely
No matter what the future brings
As time goes by
Good luck America, get out and do it.
VOTED EARLY...;-)
ReplyDeleteP.S. We might not know the outcome until April ! They are going to pull out all the tricks--election interference, challenges, and not seating new members of congress...to name a few. That said--we need to have hope and vote.
