Van Druten

The 1^st June  1901, was the birthday of John William Van Druten. He was an English playwright and theatre director, known professionally as John Van Druten. He began his career in London, and later moved to America becoming a U.S. citizen. He was known for his plays of witty and urbane observations of contemporary life and society.

He wrote the play Old Acquaintance as well as the screenplay for the film, staring Bette Davis and Miriam Hopkins. A brilliant duet for the two stars in 1943. Bette has one of her memorable lines.
