On
the 1st June 1857, Charles Baudelaire’s
Les Fleurs du mal was published.
Van Druten |
He wrote the play Old Acquaintance as well as the screenplay for the film, staring
Bette Davis and Miriam Hopkins. A brilliant duet for the two stars in 1943.
Bette has one of her memorable lines.
There comes a time in every
woman's life when the only thing that helps is a glass of champagne.
The 1st June is
also the birthday of three British actors - Robert Powell 1944, Brian Cox 1946
and Jonathan Pryce 1947.
